“Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” ~ Mark 10:15

Legend has it that Mary was presented in the temple as a child, and that she danced up the temple steps, making everyone smile in spite of themselves and the solemn occasion.

Mary, then, who would become the first Christian, and perfect disciple, was the first to enter the coming Kingdom of God as a child.

She was confident and unafraid, totally authentic, freely humble, and without pretense.

Some day we will run into God’s Kingdom without hesitation, and with the joy of a little child.

Holy Mary, may we know the joy of spiritual childhood, of following Him whose yoke is easy, whose burden is light.

Little Mary, gentle, joyful, freely open, and humble of heart, make our hearts like your own, that we may reflect the love and life and joy that come from the freedom of the children of God.

Memorial of the Presentation of the Child Mary November 21. Also my birthday. 🙂
